iPhone and technology

Hawaii Beaches and Buildings seen from Ala Moana Beach Park
I came to an interesting realization yesterday. Information and knowledge is now available more easily and conveniently than ever. Last month I bought the new iPhone from Apple. This little unit allows you to surf the Internet right from your phone. Having the information from the Internet available on your phone allows you access to information wherever you go and whenever you need it. For example, yesterday I was trying to solve an math equation with two variables. I forgot how to solve it. My computer was at the office. So I grab my iPhone, do a google search on solving two variable equations, and several websites came up which helped me solve my problem. Another example, I was talking with a new friend from India, and she mentioned a famous person from history named Akbar the Great. I have no clue who this guy is, so again I did a Google search from my phone and got several pages of information from an online encyclopedia.
That is amazing to me. Information whenever you want it, wherever you are. The amount of information available on the Internet grows daily, I know that whole libraries are being scanned and made available for search engines. Now, companies such as Apple are making products that provide access to the Internet right from your hand.
I not only can get stock quotes from my handheld phone, but with the touch of the touch-sensitive screen, I get get all the latest news on the stock, charts, all the info that is available online. Right there, wherever I am, waiting for the bus, in the grocery store, by the beach, wherever. Not only can I use the iPhone as a phone, but I can access all my e-mail, work and personal, right from my phone. The convenience is amazing to me. No more having to get to my computer, boot up it up, get online, go to the website, etc etc... There are other great features about the phone, but I will move on to another topic.
I have been working hard. Since I started my new job, there has been so many things to do. Learning about how to do the job, various problem solving and trouble shooting. I have been investing a lot of time and energy into it. I believe, if the company is successful, the upside potential is amazing. Plus I enjoy the people I work with. We communicate well and everyone has respect for each other. Its a terrific environment to work in.
However, with all the work as well as taking a class at UH, I feel I don't have much of a social life, and a little lonely. I have only been here a few about a month and a half, and I am meeting a few people, but its slow.
I also only get around by bus. I don't have a car, so I have not even left Waikiki to visit any other place on the island yet. Though, the north side of the island has some of the best beaches.
Someone said to me, good things come to those who wait. However, patience has not always been my best trait.
