Interview with Lydia Part II - Studying Chinese

Mark: Couple more questions...so how long have you been studying Chinese?
Lydia:I've been studying Chinese since last year. As soon as I came here I started studying at...um..Renmin University. And so it's been a year now. A little over a year since September 2005.
Mark: Ok, and that was the first time you started studying Chinese?
Lydia:Yeah, well I studied a little bit growing up, but that didn't go very far.
Mark: Ok. What do you think of studying Chinese? Is it difficult?
Lydia: It definately is. It's..it's one of the most difficult things I've had to ever do in my life!
Mark:Really?
Lydia:It's been fun though. It's fun.
Mark: How's your Chinese so far after about a year and a half of study?
Lydia:Hai keyi!
Mark: Hai keyi. What is the difficult part about studying Chinese for you?
Lydia: Um, well, I can... I think it's...probably getting myself up to class everyday. Good one, good one.
Mark:(laughing) Going to class everyday!
Lydia:That's difficult. However like... the surroundings are awesome. It's great to study the language in this country or whatever. So, it's, it's.. you pick things up real quick and get to use them right away. And as long as you can get yourself to sitdown for maybe two hours three hours a day and just really sit down and concentrate then it really takes you a long way.
Mark:Good!
